Google Play Books App

One of the largest mobile app store in the country, Google Play Store has made available Books for it’s Indian users.  Adding Books to the Play Store adds a whole new dimension to Google’s revenue generated by Android for which Google has been striving to come up with different ways. This move from Google also makes sense because the Nexus 7 will be launched in India by mid 2013 and the tablet also has a reputation of serving a good E-book reader as well.

The Books feature on the Google Play Store will include around 5 million odd labels including many Indian titles. Like apps Play Store will offer some free books too. The paid E-books on the Play Store will start from as low as Rs. 50. Likely, Play Store will provide  it’s own app to read the bought E-books.

With the launch of Books on Play Store we could see more device being launched under Tablet cum E-book reader category which would serve a better battery life. Google on this launch had to say: “We’re happy to make it even easier for all Indian book lovers to discover and buy whatever they want to read, whether that’s the next bestseller, a new release from their favourite author or a well-loved classic. Whether you’re a bookworm or casual reader, we hope you find something great to read on Google Play”.
